That's a long winded process. The door i have you just take it out, take the bottom rollers out and put them in the top rail and flip the door upside down. Then remove the handle and switch them to the other side. Can be done in about 2 minutes max and not needing to dismantle the door like you guys had to

When my sash is in the fully closed position my lock handle will NOT move to the downward position.

If you plan to do this yourself, note that spiral balance applies to different window types and requires different tools. If you don't have Kohltech windows, do your homework first.

What is that shorter cover that is at the very top of the channel; just below where the top of the balance cover is? I broke mine and don't know what to search for to get a replacement. It looks fairly identical to the one you have in your video.

Well done video! I'm an "experienced" DIYer and needed some info on the bottom and side block install. Other videos on UA-cam simply didn't show that, but this one fit the bill perfectly! Many thanks!

Thanks for video. Just want to share my experience with adjusting spring tension. I did as instructed, I raised the right side of the sash so I could begin to take it out. When I did that, the plastic block released and the right side guide mechanism sprung up. When I investigated further, the blue pivoting insert popped out of the plastic block and was still attached to the pin on the sash. Getting the blue circular pivot insert back into the sliding plastic block was no easy feat. I spent 45 minutes trying get the pivoting insert back into the sliding block. So for me the better method was to bring the sash down to horizontal and use the spring tool without removing the sash. So I would suggest that you try releasing the spring without removing the sash first. If that works great. If it doesn’t then go ahead and remove the sash as the video instructs.

My springs just spin and spin, there's no tension whatsoever. Can the springs be repaired, or do they need to be replaced entirely? Just moved into an old house, and I've got about a dozen windows that won't stay open.

So I wouldnt take this guys advice as far as measuring windows when its brick. I did unfortunately and the the windows are all too big and dont fit. I now paid for windows that I cant return and have to buy new windows, costing me $2 400.00. My advice to anyone looking to replace windows is go inside take the trim around windows off and measure EACH window from outside of frame to outside frame this way the windows you buy will fit the same as the old windows. A costly lesson learned.
